A TIME FOR PLANTING

“But this I say, those who sow sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and those who sow bountifully shall reap also bountifully."

(2 Corinthians 9:6)

Following the turbulence of winter comes the season of activity and opportunity called springtime.  It is the season for entering the fertile fields of life with seed, knowledge, commitment, and a determined effort.

Spring does not care if you sow or sleep, nor does it care if you plant abundantly or sparingly.  God has given you the wisdom to rise from your comfortable chair and enter the fields at the right season.

The springtime in your life offers you the opportunity to enroll in a class, to have the courage to change either an occupation or residence, or perhaps even to change your mind about something or someone.

Springtime can enter your life when ever you are ready, but timing is important.  Do not allow springtime to pass while you sit idly by and others are planting their seeds.

To take full advantage of the spring in your life, you must begin to rid your soil of the weeds and rocks of worry, doubt, or pessimism.  It is the fertilizer of faith and enthusiasm that will overcome the worst forms of weeds.  The Lord allows flowers to start over every spring and he will allow the same for you:

“And why take thought for clothes? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?” (Matthew 6:28-30 KJV)

Plant more seeds this year.  If you gave a small amount of money to the work of the Lord last year, give more this year.  If you attended church only a few times last year, attend more this year.  If you gave a small amount of your time last year ministering, give more time this year to the Lord.  If you spent a small amount of time and effort in helping your church, invest more this year.

"For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also." (James 2:26)  Faith provides us with a multiple reward.  For each cup planted, a bushel is reaped,  for every good idea given to another, many shall be given to us in return,  for every act of kindness and love, a life of love will be returned, for each seed of encouragement given to another, encouragement will be given.

A kernel of corn produces its own kind.  A seed of doubt, or fear, or distrust place in the mind also produces after its own kind.  The price, or effort of thinking thoughts of love, prosperity, or self-confidence takes no more effort than to think thoughts of hate, poverty, or self doubt.  Only the rewards are different.

Springtime says “Here I Am!”.  I will provide the warm weather and the fertile fields, but you will have to decide if you are going to plant or not, and what you will plant.  The act of planting during the spring requires that we exert effort and discipline.

Each day is given to us as a new season of spring.  The thoughts, deeds, dreams, and efforts of today will provide tomorrow’s harvest.  To neglect the opportunity given to us this day is to delay our better harvest tomorrow.  There will be no better day, no better opportunity, no better springtime, no better time to begin than the current moment.  Life is truly a constant beginning, a constant opportunity, a constant springtime.  We need to have the faith of a child.

“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all people, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.”   (Galatians 6:9-10)

“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be stedfast and unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as you know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” (1 Corinthians 15:58)

BEING PART OF A MIRACLE

BEING A PART OF A MIRACLE

Jesus said to them, “Fill the water pots with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. And He said to them, “Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast.” And they took it.  JOHN 2: 1-12

This is our Lord's first Miracle.  He made a difference in the lives of many people when He walked the Earth. God's Word tells us that if all the books that were written were about Him, they would not include everything He did. He  is still making a big difference in my life and others.

He operates in different ways in the lives of different people.  He was called to a wedding.  When He is called He shows up.  

Psalm 50:15 "Call upon Me in the day of trouble;I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.”

What Jesus did at the wedding signifies some very important things to us about Jesus and his compassion for people. He cares about even about our embarrassing shortcomings.  God is working behind the scenes to meet the need.  He is solving the problem when we have only looked at it.  He is curing the cancer when we are still trying to pronounce its name, providing the resources as the bills are placed in the mailbox, and giving the strength when we are weak.

To the Jewish people wine symbolized joy. The Jewish rabbis had a saying, ‘Without wine there is no joy.” At the wedding in Cana their joy had run out! In some ways it is a reminder of the emptiness of our life without Christ.  When the water was turned to wine, the shame of the bridal family was turned to joy. That is simply the way life works. There are times we run out of joy.   The change in our lives - our water into wine- is not based on our strength or efforts, it is available as we yield our lives to the Holy Spirit’s power.  Sometimes our joy runs out.  God is working in the background to make sure that someone is getting water so that He can turn it into wine to restore the joy of your salvation.  

This sermon today was just water when I begin to put it together, but as I deliver it today to you My prayer is that The Lord Jesus Christ will turn it into wine that your spiritual joy may be full.  This is what the Holy Spirit does for you and me.

Wherever Jesus went there was life and joy. He stated that his life mission was, as He said, that “His joy might be in us and that our joy might be complete” (John 15:11). He has come to bring His joy, and there is joy everywhere in our world. He is the God of irrepressible joy, and He has come to share it. He offers the wine of joy to all those who are thirsty for life — for those who will come and drink.

Mary said we have a problem.  They did not other options such as coke or even pure water.

Jesus answered his mother as "dear woman" - a respect question.

Perhaps Jesus could have used Mary.  Jesus could have looked to His disciples.  He could have told them to take it to the governor for them to impress Him with the good wine.    Surprisingly, to all who were at the wedding, Jesus did the unexpected - He looked to the servants.  Miracles meet ordinary needs in unexpected ways.    One of the deepest desires of every believer is to be part of the plan of God.  The compelling nature of the love of God creates a yearning in us to get off the bench and into the game.  We often assume that people with social, political or even spiritual status will be God’s first choice, But God does not look at the things that people look at.  “Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart”  (I Samuel 16:7. 

Who did Jesus say were the greatest in the kingdom of God?  He said people who are like children, who are humble and have very little to offer.  Our building will be built with the small offerings we have.  He will use you.  He does not look at your resources, your age, or even your abilities, but He just wants you to be a part of the miracle.  Just give a cup of cold water in his name.

Illustration- grandmother's house dipper and basin.  The water was used for ceremonial washing of hands and feet.  They had to go to the well to get the water - not an easy job.  They did a good job filling them to the brim.  They did it for Jesus.

In our limited understanding, we don’t understand how filling jars with water solves a wine problem.  My job is to faithfully walk with a glass of water until He turns it into wine.  When I get out of the way and walk faithfully with a servant’s heart, God turns water into wine.  There will be times in life when you feel that what you are carrying is terribly inadequate.  That is when faith becomes real as you trust God to take what you have and make it something better.  “Now unto Him, that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.  Unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end.”  (Ephesians 3:20-21).

God does not need you, but He wants to use you so you can be blessed.  You may decide not to give your money to God in tithes and offerings.  Believe me, God does not need your money, but you need God's blessings.  You have have the attitude "let the other person get the water and carry the water", and God will select someone else, but you will miss being part of the miracle.  Jesus could have just said the word and the water pots would have filled themselves with wine.  But He let other people be a part of His miracle.

Will carry some water to someone else who needs a miracle and let The Lord Jesus turn it into wine for them?

There is no limit to his grace. What Jesus gives is never just enough, it is always more than enough, with plenty left over. He did not give just enough trees; he gave more than enough. He did not create just enough mountains; he created more than enough. He did not give just enough ocean; he gave more than enough. He did not give just enough life and joy; he gave more than enough.  He gave us more than enough to complete the water cycle to give us rain and oxygen.

Miracles happen when we understand that Jesus transforms our everyday experiences. Jesus did not come to give us information; he came to give us a transformation. He changes things. 

Jesus did not just change the color of the water, He changed its substance.  When God gives you the new life, He can give you enough grace to stop sinning, start forgiving, and live a life of meaning. Wine takes years to make from the time the vines are planted to the harvesting and the aging.  But god can reduce that time.  He can reduce the time it takes for you to get healed or get out of debt.  He can reduce the time it takes to forgive and move n in our lives.

He has a way of taking the ordinary and making it extraordinary. He did not come to bring new ideas; he came to make new people. The water did not just appear to be wine; it was transformed into wine — the best of wine at that.  “Behold, I make all things new.”  (Revelation 21:5).  The best wine was always offered first. Isn’t that just like our Lord? The best always comes at the end. The grace we once tasted cautiously—we now drink freely. Jesus has poured out in us the richness of his love and forgiveness.  He has a lot of wonderful things planned for you and I after we leave this Earth and all of its problems.

In very ordinary places he creates extraordinary beauty. Let Jesus touch you, and see if your life is not filled with new beauty and wonder — new flavor and fragrance.   Jesus is in the business of turning water into wine, sinners into saints, fear into courage, sorrow into joy, defeat into victory, despair into hope and death into life. 

Miracles happen when we understand that Jesus extravagantly provides for our everyday requests. There were six jars containing between 20 and 30 gallons apiece.  Though we anticipate that God may give us enough to get by, we often do not expect abundance.  Our expectations are far too low.  Filling the purification jars with water was hard work.   Out of those water jars came 2,500 glasses of water turned into wine - more than enough to satisfy the needs of the wedding banquet.  The Lord Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross was more than enough.  His shed blood was enough to offer forgiveness for not just for our sins of the past, but for our sins today, and for the inevitable sins of tomorrow.   Why did Jesus give so much wine? Because he is an extravagant giver. He never gives just enough; he always gives superabundantly.

Isaiah 39:29 "He gives power to the weak,And to those who have no might He increases strength."  

Joel 3:10. "Let the weak say, I am strong."  He wants to give you an abundance.

You have to use what you have before the Lord Jesus changes your water into wine.  You may have to fill some jars which requires effort and hard work on your part. You may have to go to where Jesus is working to receive the wine.  Everyone there at the wedding that day was at the right place at the right time when the Lord Jesus showed up.  But He is still working miracles today in the lives of His children when they are living right and serving Him.  “Blessed is the person that does not walk in the company of the ungodly, nor stands in the same place as sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful.  But their delight is in the words of the Lord, and in His words do they mediate day and night.”They shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth his/her fruit in their season; their leaf shall not wither, and whatsoever they do shall prosper.”   (Psalm 1: 1-3). 

God is not here today playing church with you.  He is here today to give you a miracle or to make you a part of a miracle.  Everyone at that wedding was blessed because the servants did their part.    You have a part to do.  You want your loved ones saved, you have a part to do.  It may be to invite them to church.  It may be to pray for them.  It may be share the Gospel with them and tell them how to be saved.

Today, I want to bring to you a message from the Lord about your future.  What you think and plan for today will determine where you will be a year from now.  This applies to every aspect of our lives including, retirement, health, relationships with others, and most important our relationship with the Lord.  This message could apply to an individual, a church, a family, or a business.  The message is simply: “Where there is no vision, the people perish” (Proverbs 29:18).

There are people depending on you and the church to get a vision from God.  We are not just an organization, we are a life changing arm of God.

Why do people die shortly after they retire, they do not have a vision?  Why do some churches have two or three hundred people or even a thousand in them, and others only have 30 after many years?  They have no vision.  We all need to ask God for a vision today.

VISION IS: THE ABILITY TO SEE: AWARENESS

Vision comes from God.  God allows us to see things as they can become.

Having a vision is more than just looking on the bright side. It is looking on God’s side. Finding the vision God has for us takes time and prayer. 

The way that we received a vision for a church is the same way that you and I can receive a vision for our lives and our families. We need to humble ourselves before God. We need to come before Him with no agenda other than the desire to hear from Heaven. We need to labor in prayer until we hear Him speak to our hearts, and He will speak my friend. 

We need to get back to cottage prayer meetings and times of group prayer.

Helen Keller, probably the most recognized blind person who has ever lived, once said, "What would be worse than being born blind? To have sight without vision." 

Moses: leading the people of Israel, David: slaying Goliath, Solomon: building the Temple, and Nehemiah: Rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem, All had a vision.

God has always given His people a vision.  “After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram, I am your shield and your exceeding great reward.” (Genesis 15:1).  “His goodness is written in the vision of Isaiah the prophet” (2 Chronicles 32:32).  “And I, Daniel, alone saw the vision.” (Daniel 10:7).  You and I may not see a vision as dramatic as these, but God still shows His people what they can accomplish with His power and guidance. The Lord may not speak to you in an audible voice, and you may not see your vision, but God wants to motivate us through His Word and His Holy Spirit.  “I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh. And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy; your old men shall dream dreams; your young men shall see visions.” (Joel 2:28).

VISION IS: THE FAITH TO BELIEVE: ATTITUDE

Vision brings out the best in people.
God’s vision is always possible.
Vision moves forward: There is no such thing as vision that moves in reverse.

Vision makes life worth living.  “Dissatisfaction and discouragement are not caused by the absence of things but the absence of vision.”  A vision brings life and joy.

The Lord Jesus is interested in you as an individual and wants to give you a vision to reach your full potential.  “The thief (Satan) does not come except to steal and to kill and to destroy. I have come so that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10).  The Lord is interested in your happiness and contentment. “I have spoken these things to you so that My joy might remain in you and your joy might be full.” (John 15:11).  

His words to you are not to restrict your joy or put you under some man-made set of rules, but they are to give you joy and true freedom.  “Therefore if the Son shall make you free, you shall be free indeed” (John 8:36).  The Lord Jesus has a great plan for your life if you will allow Him to fulfill it in you.  You can accomplish a lot with the Lord as your partner.  “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).

VISION IS: THE COURAGE TO DO: ACTION

God does not guide where He will not also provide.
Vision focuses on the future.

The difference in Young people who become successful in life is the result of taking action when you are young.  When I was a young person I read a lot of self-improvement books.  I read books and took courses in speed reading, short-hand, key-boarding.  I read biographies about men and women who had visions and their lives were successful.  At 13-14 I was reading books like "How to win friends and influence others, by Dale Carniage and books and sermons by Hudson Taylor, Billy Graham, Dwight L. Moody, John Wesley.  I caught a vision to take something from each of their lives and make my life better.  Just don't get caught up in the culture of drugs and "zoning out",  or think the world "owes you".  Life is full of opportunities for those who will get a vision. 

When you are older, you can still catch a vision and have a life that is meaningful and enjoyable.  One of the visions the Lord gave me was to become a missionary and reach the world with the Gospel for Him.  (Matthew 28:19-20).  At the age of 60, with the help of a Pastor in India - Pastor Francis, we are reaching over 133 countries around the world weekly with these sermons on www.sermonstotheworld.blogspot.com.

The courage of vision is to say "Lord if that is you, let me come to you walking on the water."

The courage of vision is to say "If God be for us, who can be against us."

The courage of Vision is to say "The trials of this life are not worthy to be compared with the glory of the next life."

Once God gives us a vision -- then what?" Once God gives us a vision we must never turn back from what He has placed in our spirit and heart. 

Never stop pursuing the vision! Never, never, never stop pursuing that which God has placed in your heart! Never let anyone tell you, "It can't be done. You are foolish for even trying such a thing. Give up while you can still preserve your dignity." Regardless of the criticism that comes your way, regardless of the laughter that may fill your ears, regardless of the condemnation that may be hurled your way -- never turn back

The Lord Jesus is interested in you as a Church – a community of believers.
“I will build My church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” (Matthew 16:18).  He can use you and I as His mouth, His feet, and His Hands to build “His” church.  I am not just talking about buildings and programs.  If we are going to bring more people to this place, you will need more of both, but you need more.  You need a vision.  God has given you a group of people who love Him and love people.  You need to take that to your community and invite them to become a part of God’s family.  Every organization will either grow or die.  “Where there is no vision, the people perish” (Proverbs 29:18).  This is a reality that every church has to face.

The vision we need to pray for involves these questions.  

“What can I do better in my life and for the Lord?”.  “How can I make this vision happen?”

“Will I sacrifice my time, energy, and money to make it happen?”.  

“Will I stick with it until my vision becomes reality?”.  I hope that you and I will begin to ask ourselves these questions and move forward with our lives.

There is a saying that says: “If you always do what you have always done, then you will always get what you have always gotten”.

If you will take a step of faith, the Lord will give you the strength and provide the resources you need to see your vision fulfilled.  There is a time of waiting, praying, and planning.  But there is also a time of moving forward.

“He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:29-31).

Get a vision for your personal life, your family, and your church.  Don’t let the negative comments of others keep you from accomplishing things.  There will always be those who say “you can’t do that”, but with the Lord’s help, you can say  “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).

Doing nothing is not an option.  “Where there is no vision, the people perish” (Proverbs 29:18).

Today, you may have been asking yourself, "What is my purpose in life? What is it that God wants me to do?  If I don't have a vision, what should I do?  Ask Him to give you a vision to not just to be able to do more, but to do what you are doing better. Some people can do more in one hour than others in four hours because they have a 
vision and a willingness to work hard to complete their vision.

“IT IS A GOOD THING”

“IT IS A GOOD THING TO GIVE THANKS UNTO YOU LORD, AND TO SING PRAISES UNTO YOUR NAME”  PSALM 92:1

While traveling along the border of Samaria, Jesus met a group of people suffering from leprosy and miraculously healed them. One of the ten men, a Samaritan, returned and thanked Jesus for healing him:

For a child of God thankfulness is not confined to a day or a season, it is an attitude that we should have everyday and every hour. Jesus asked, "Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?" Then he said to him, "Rise and go; your faith has made you well.”  (Luke 17:11-19)

Over fifty years ago the Lord Jesus Christ reached out and forgave me of all my sins, and invited me to become a child of God.  I accepted His forgiveness and became a child of God.  I do not wait until a special day like Sunday or “Thanksgiving” to thank Him and remind Him how much I appreciate His love for me.  I cannot help but say “Thank You” to the Lord for loving me and taking care of me.

There is one sin that is prevalent today, it is the sin of ingratitude. God does so much for us. Our indebtedness to him is enormous and yet we rarely or at least infrequently offer thanks for what He has done. In fact, most professing Christians don’t even offer thanks over their meals much less offer thanks over all that God does in their lives.

There are many more blessings He gives to you and me everyday and we need to be more thankful and show the Lord how much we appreciate His goodness to us.   “Bless the LORD, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name!  Bless the LORD, O my soul.  And forget not all His benefits:  Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all our disease.  Who redeems your life from destruction.  Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies.”  (Psalms 103:1-4).  

I want to give thanks unto the Lord today for you, as I do many times during the week.  “After I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all Christians, I cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers” (Ephesians 1:15-16).  I cannot help but say “Thank You” to the Lord for you.  I appreciate the love that my friends show me and the prayers they offer up for me.  It is no telling where I would be in my life today if it were not for the precious gift of good friends.  If we are thankful to others, we need to express it in words and deeds.  We need to express it and they need to hear it.  Give thanks for a little and you will find a lot.

I thank the Lord Jesus Christ, God the Father, and the Holy Spirit for their presence in my life. I want to take this day to “just say thanks” for all They have done for me. 

I want to thank God for the wonderful things He has done for me. “Many O LORD my God are Your wonderful works.  Which You have done.  And Your thoughts toward us Cannot be recounted to You in order.  If I would declare and speak of them.  They are more than can be numbered”.  (Psalms 40:5).

Thank You Lord Jesus for leaving Heaven and coming to Earth to die for my sins.  “For Christ also has once suffered for sins, the Just for he unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but brought back to life by the Spirit.” (I Peter 3:18).  Thank You God for your gift of eternal life.  “Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable gift”.  (2 Corinthians 9:15).  If you have received the Lord Jesus as your Savior, you have received a gift so great and wonderful, you will never understand how valuable it is until you step into Heaven.

Thank You Holy Spirit for teaching me about the Love of God and the Lord Jesus Christ.  “The Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” (John 14:26).  God lives inside of our lives through the Holy Spirit and we should always be thankful of His presence.  “Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?  For you were bought at a price: therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.”  (I Corinthians 6:19-20). 

There are many ways to say  “thank You” to the Lord.  We can start with our lips.  “By Him, then let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is with the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.” (Hebrews 13: 15).  There is a tremendous difference between simply feeling gratitude and expressing gratitude.

You may not think you have much today to offer the Lord.  You may be “hanging on by a thread”.  But you still have “one thing” more you can do, one more prayer you can pray, and one more promise from God’s Word you can depend upon.  You can be thankful.   You may not be recognized in this life time by others for any great talent or achievement in your service for the Lord Jesus, but when you are thankful, God takes notice and accepts it as a offering to Him.

Make it a habit to tell people thank you. To express your appreciation, sincerely and without the expectation of anything in return. Truly appreciate those around you, and you’ll soon find many others around you. Truly appreciate life, and you’ll find that you have more of it.

“Thank you Lord, for saving my soul. Thank you, Lord, for making me whole. Thank you, Lord, for giving to me, your great salvation so rich and free!”

SOWING GOOD SEEDS IN GOOD GROUND

“But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.” (2 Corinthians 9:6).

What we do with our time, with ourselves, with our friends, and with our attitudes will determine what our future will be.  We will either improve, or we regress.  If we do not improve, we will go backwards.  What we do not use, we lose.  

In Matthew 13:3-9, Jesus compares our lives to farmers who plant seeds.  He spoke of the kinds of ground the seeds were planted in and the results that came from it.  The types of ground represent our hearts and how willing we are to receive the Word of God and apply it to our lives.  At the end of His parable he says this: "He who has ears to hear, let him hear!" (Matthew 13:9).  It is very important they we listen to what God has to say to us about living successful and happy lives.

Every day of our lives we are planting seeds that will bring forth a harvest at some point in our lives.  God has given us good seed to plant.  But many people choose to find and plant their own seeds.  A kernel of corn produces its own kind.  A seed of doubt, fear, or distrust planted in our minds will produce after its own kind.  A seed of unkindness, criticism, worry, or bitterness will produce fruit that will cause us disappointment and hurt.  For those who choose to plant these kinds of seeds, the Bible has some warnings.  “For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind.” (Hosea 8:7).  “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.” (Galatians 6:7).  Planting seeds of faith, optimism, love, and kind deeds will produce after its own kind.  These seeds will produce what the Lord Jesus wants us to have and that is a joyful and purposeful life. “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10).

Remember the ground is important too.  When someone gets ready to plant a new crop it is important to remove the weeds and things from the past seasons.  To plant your new crop, start preparing your ground by asking the Lord Jesus to forgive you of the bad seeds that have been planted, and to prepare your heart for the new.  When the ground is ready, we can both receive good seed, and plant new seeds in other people’s lives as well.  "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.” (Ezekiel 36:26).  The good seeds will not grow if your heart is not right.  Make sure you have a real relationship with the Lord Jesus, and that you are not just playing church.  Ask the Lord to “give you a new heart”.

We all need to plant good seeds into good ground.  It does take faith to put the effort, time, and energy into planting these good seeds.  But faith will provide us with a great reward.  For each cup planted, a bushel is reaped.  For every good idea given to another, many shall be given to us in return.  For every act of kindness and love given, a life of love will be returned.  For each seed of encouragement given to another, encouragement will return.  “Cast your bread upon the waters, For you will find it after many days.” (Ecclesiastes 11:1).  It is always a risk to plant, to give, to love, or to serve.  But the Lord Jesus said this as a promise to you:  "Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you." (Luke 6:38).

Do not let springtime pass while you sit idly contemplating the severity of the past winter of life.  Rise up from your comfortable chair and enter into the fields where people need to receive the good seeds you can plant.  Start planning for a good harvest in your life. It will be beneficial for you to read Christian books that will inspire you to live a better life and motivate you to follow our Lord’s teachings. Read the Bible daily.  Listen to uplifting Christian music and watch positive TV programs that will give you the desire to live a holy life.  Avoid venues that send out negative messages.

Each day is given to us a new season to plant good seeds into good ground.  The thoughts, deeds, dreams, and efforts of today will provide tomorrow’s harvest.  To neglect the opportunity given to us today, will delay our better harvest tomorrow.  There will be no better time to begin than at this current moment.

Do not get discouraged if you have not seen your harvest yet.  It is coming.  “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.” (Galatians 6:9-10).  The Lord Jesus is going to reward you for all you do for Him and others in His name.  “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” (1 Corinthians 15:58).  We have both the promise of a good harvest in this life and in the one to come.  You cannot out give God, out love Him, or out serve Him.

Examine the gifts and talents the Lord has given you and use them to plant good seed.  Planting seeds should be the most natural thing you do.  It should be easy for you.  The Lord has given you the good seed to plant.  The Holy Spirit will give you the desire, the directions on where to plant, and the courage to live a life that will produce good seed. We are all going to experience a harvest. Some will continue to plant bad seeds while others will plant good seeds.  I hope you plant good seed and that you will plant a lot of it and experience a harvest of blessing and success.

TO THOSE WHO ARE WAITING ON THE LORD

 “He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength.

Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles,  They shall run and not be weary,  They shall walk and not faint. 

Isaiah 40: 29-31

Chapter 40 is the beginning of a new section in the book of Isaiah. It is the first chapter which looks beyond the captivity of Israel and on to the brightness of the future God has in store. 

There are always those times when it seems that Satan is getting the best of us. Sometimes it’s a little hard to maintain your faith and trust in God when everything is going against us and we are in the middle of one of the greatest battles of our life. It is in those times that we need the Lord more than ever. It is in those times that our faith and trust in God is really put to the test.

We must not forget that God has promised us that we would “never be tempted above what we are able to bear, but with every temptation, every trial, every test, every trouble, He will make a way for us to escape and win the victory.” (1 Corinthians 10:13).

God never promised that we wouldn’t have hard times. He never promised that we would sail through life without troubles. What He did promise is that He will never leave us nor forsake us. He promised that He would supply our every need. He promised in Psalms 55:22, "Cast your burden upon the LORD, and He shall sustain you: He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.”

There is no shortage of God’s power, might, and strength. Our way is not hidden from Him. He has not forgotten about you and I. He will make His strength available to us, if we but trust Him.

Faith says that everything will work out when it seems that everything is crumbling around me.  Faith says that my bills will be paid when I can’t see how they will in the natural sense. Faith says that God will take care of me and that I must force myself to stop being overly concerned with the future. Faith says that I know, that I know, that I know, that somehow, God will work it all out and that when He does, I will be so greatly blessed for having faced all that is happening right now.

Waiting upon the Lord requires true faith. Waiting upon the Lord requires going through the fire sometimes and still trusting God to bring us through.

Waiting upon the Lord requires that we believe in the impossible, look for the unseen answers, hope in the times of hopelessness and know, without knowing why or how, that God will take care of us. , "Behold, the LORD’S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:” (Isaiah 59:1)

What does it mean to "wait"? The waiting spoken of here requires faith, trust, patience, hope.  The word “wait" in this instance has to do with faith, not service. It bears the concepts of trust, hope and longing. It is to wait with expectant hope.

What does it mean to "renew"? Don’t we put gas in our tanks only after we have used most of it?  That’s how it is with spiritual strength. Those who have exhausted their strength will have it renewed.  The Lord is not promising an extension of our own natural strength. This strength is supernaturally supplied.  Our batteries are recharged. Our tanks are refueled. Depleted energy is restored. Our power returns when we ask God to send His power.

What does it mean to "mount up”?  This is a simile. It is figurative language intended to paint a picture in our minds. More than our minds, it is designed to inspire our spirits. To soar on wings like eagles is to rise effortlessly.  Great lifting power causes the eagle to fly higher greater lift power in the updrafts of turbulent winds.

Where do we get strength to be patient and encourage?  The child of God gets strength from God’s Word, Prayer, and being around other children of God.  When you don’t feel like going to church is the very time you should go to God’s House to hear a message of hope from Him.

Again and again in the scriptures, God has recorded how He use the weak to become strong.  You have a shepherd boy named David going into battle against a hardened giant of a man with nothing more than a sling and a stone and he is victorious.  You have an inexperienced leader named Gideon facing off against thousands of ruthless warriors with an army of only 300 men and defeated them.

God views those who are waiting as objects of His special love and care and expects other Christians to extend love and concern towards them, as well.  God, Himself, is there to give strength to those who are waiting. God is there to strengthen those who are spiritually waiting on a blessing from Heaven. Be confident when going through a dry season. "God is going to supply all of your needs according to His Riches in Glory". 

(Philippians 4:19).

Today, I hope you will read  God’s Word and believe that He wants to be directly involved in your life today.  He has a plan for you that will take you through this life time of struggles into Heaven.  He will provide you with the strength to keep going if you will begin speaking to yourself words of faith such as “I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me.”  (Philippians 4:13)

"IF MY PEOPLE"

“IF MY PEOPLE”

“If My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14).

This was a message directly from God to the Children of Israel in the Old Testament.  But It is also a message to you and I today.  In that time, God was dealing with a nation.  Today, God deals with individuals.   In the the verse above, God is talking to Israel.  But today, He is speaking to you personally.  You can insert your name in the verse  and quote it as “If _____ who is called by My Name shall….”   If we have been “born again”, “believe on the name of Jesus”, and have a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, then you are one of God’s “My People”.

Today, if you are not sure you are one of “My People”, receive Christ as your personal Savior. If you been waiting for the right time to start serving the Lord, or have wasted time, listen to God’s Word: “This also, knowing the time, that it is already time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand; therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light” (Romans 13:11-12).

You may be missing many blessings that God wants to give you by failing to understand some spiritual principles by which our Heavenly Father operates.  You may know you  are a child of God but wondering why you are not being blessed, you are not happy, or your life is in constant drama and chaos.

One of God’s “If My People” principles is that we must understand is that of reaping and sowing.  “Be not deceived; God is not mocked; for whatsoever a person sows, that shall they also reap.”  Everything bad thing in life that happens to us not a result of this law.  There are natural disasters that hit that affects the Just and the unjust.  There are physical illnesses and financial  and personal losses that happen to those serving the Lord and to those who do not.  There are persecutions and injustices that happen to the righteous and to the unrighteous.  

God is good enough and loving enough to let it “rain on the just and the unjust”.   I do not believe bad things happen to God’s children because we disappoint Him with our lives.  Evil comes from Satan and good comes from God (John 10:10).  On the other hand, the promises of special blessings and answered prayer from Heaven happen to  “My People”.  God has promised that “If My People…” will do certain things He will help them get through the difficulties of life with His presence and His power.  One of the greatest things about God is that He continues to work with men and women despite their own limitations and failings.

What should God’s people do to continue to receive God’s blessings?

We must begin by putting aside our pride to help others, and humble ourselves in the sight of our God.  “God resists the proud, but gives grace unto the humble” (James 4:6).  Our Lord said: “Whoever exalts themselves shall be humbled, and those that humbles themselves shall be exalted.” (Luke 14:11).  How do you humble yourself?  Our Lord said: “Whoever shall humble themselves as this little child, the same is the greatest in the kingdom of God.”  (Matthew 18:4).  This is one of those “If My People.” conditions to please God and receive His favor and blessings.  The Lord's Prayer is repeated daily by millions who have not the slightest intention of letting anyone's will be done but their own.

The next condition is to “Pray and seek My Face”.  Someone has said “Wishing will never be a substitute for prayer.”  Prayer makes a difference in what we can receive from God.  “You have not because you ask not” (James 4:2).  Prayer makes a difference in our relationship with our Heavenly Father.  “The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and His ears are attentive to their prayer”. (I Peter 3:12).  If you are right with God, people are depending upon your prayers.  It is the most effective thing you can do for others and for yourself.  We do not pray to tell God what he does not know, nor to remind Him of things He has forgotten.  Prayer is a cooperation with God, a consent that opens the way for grace to work.

The third condition for “My People” is to “turn from their wicked ways”.  If you are one of “God’s People”, you know what the Holy Spirit speaks to your hearts about.  If it seems you are not getting answers to your prayers, then maybe God is speaking to you about issues and attitudes in your life that need to change.  “If I regard sin in my heart, the Lord will not hear me.” (Psalm 66:18).

The Lord lets you know that there are many incentives for being “called by His Name.”.  He will give you joy and peace now, and a home in Heaven later.  He will hear your prayers and meet your needs now, and reward you with eternal life later.  He will give you power to overcome when you do get behind now, and will present you to the Father later. “Then everyone who shall confess Me before men, I will confess him before My Father who is in Heaven” (Matthew 10:32).

Today our Lord “is willing” to help those who are willing to come to Him.  Spread the good news that our Savior is ready to help those who cannot help themselves and when others have no desire to help them.  "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance." (Mark 2:17).
